Welcome to Ashikaga Japan! Ashikaga is where I will spend the next year as an English teacher for GEOS Language Corporation. Ashikaga (pop: 170k) lies about 50 miles north of Tokyo (about 2 1/2 hour train ride). Ashikaga is on the northern tip of the Kanto plains and is nustled up against the mountains to the north. Ashikaga is considered a small city for Japanese standards though has large shopping malls and various places to eat and drink (no starbucks though-ahhhh!). Ashikaga is nice because it has a small town feel with very friendly people in which to live in but is close to Tokyo when I want to experience the big city for the weekend!
GEOS Language Corporation...
I am teaching English for the GEOS Language Corporation. GEOS has 510 schools inside Japan and 47 worldwide. GEOS is teacher/student focused which means I have the same students throughout the year. I have about 50 students during the week that are various ages (child to adult). So any given day I may be teaching about different verb tenses to my adult students or playing a word game with the kids on the carpet with my shoes off!
